In just a couple of days families will gather to celebrate Christmas. Food, fellowship, music, presents and more. It’s such an exciting day that happens so fast, especially if you are traveling from one families home to the next. Here is a thought or should I say a question to ponder. Do we do all the decorating, cook the meal, make all the preparations but the guest of honor is not sitting at your table? Where is the focus in your home? Is it in the decorations, the cards, the food and festivities? How is Jesus part of your Christmas celebration? Do you find time to quiet your soul and be in the awesome wonder of what Christmas is really about? Our tainted relationship with God had to have a rescuer, a solution so we could be with God forever! We need a Redeemer, so Christ left the glories of heaven, came to earth in a very humble way, as a baby to a poor family, not as a king which is what people were looking for in the sense of how royals lived. He came with one goal to conquer which is to save the lost. He came to our messed up world and our messed up lives. He was prophesied,
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
He taught, loved, healed, discipled, prayed and died for everyone. He was rejected and scorned,
He was despised and rejected] by men;
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
You see, you need a Savior and I need a Savior~Jesus is his name! Do you know him? He knows you. He loves you, so much he died for you. You matter, your life counts. He has a plan for you. He extends mercy and grace daily. He will cleanse your heart, soul and take away the dirt and grime. He will fill it with living water. Water that quenches the souls desires. Water that you will crave! He is worth it because you are worth it.
Don’t get me wrong…all the fun stuff that goes along with Christmas is awesome. We make memories that we talk about for years to come, but it’s very easy to get caught up in the commercialism of Christmas that you miss the WONDER! SO this Christmas slow down and quiet your soul, reflecting on the true reason for the season. Don’t leave the guest of honor out of your Christmas celebration!
